Hitting the road again

So, we are hitting the road again for another lap around Australia. Since last time, we got a new caravan, a new car and even a new child! We have got around 9 months time and are planning to travel around the country clockwise.

Our first stop was Heathcote, where we had a great little farewell camping weekend with friends, a nice afternoon at the local swimming pool, a great dinner with Ice Cream IPA at the beer garden of Palling Bros craft beer brewery and a lot of fun for the kids. Special thanks to Daniel, Jenny, Liz, Ryan, Charlize, Emma & Henry!

We are now in Ballarat, which is more of a technical stop, as we need to get our caravan serviced here and have some minor issues to get fixed.

It’s rather chilly here and feels like autumn is coming. If everything goes well, we’ll start making our way west on Friday and hope to catch a few more warmer days in the South of WA.

Our setup

For the ones of you who are interested in the technical side of things, this is our setup:

We are travelling in a 24ft quad bunk Terrain Tuff caravan made by Network RV in Campbellfield. We had it designed to be able to travel the more remote corners of the country and stay off grid for as long as possible. It comes with 190 l water tanks, 600 W solar panels, 340 Ah Lithium batteries. It also has a full kitchen, shower, toilet & washing machine as well as bike racks for all of us. It has proper off road suspension and a dust reduction system which should let us travel even on badly corrugated roads.

We removed 2 of the 4 bunks, as we only have 2 kids and had a little desk installed, so that we can work remotely while travelling. We are carrying a Starlink satellite dish to get internet wherever we are.
